{"id":67473,"date":"2025-03-08T17:28:01","date_gmt":"2025-03-08T12:28:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=67473"},"modified":"2025-03-08T17:28:01","modified_gmt":"2025-03-08T12:28:01","slug":"china-extends-2bn-loan-to-pakistan-for-one-year-term","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/china-extends-2bn-loan-to-pakistan-for-one-year-term\/","title":{"rendered":"China extends $2bn loan to Pakistan for one-year term"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: China has extended a $2 billion loan to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/man-jailed-in-uk-for-smuggling-gun-parts-from-pakistan-in-imported-car\/\">Pakistan<\/a>, the Finance Ministry confirmed on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry said the $2 billion loan was due on March 24 and has been extended for one year, adding that<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pla-army-commander-pakistan-cgs-strengthen-military-ties-in-key-beijing-meeting\/\"> Beijing<\/a> has informed Islamabad of the decision.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry said in a statement that Pakistan\u2019s long-standing friend China continues to provide economic support for the country\u2019s economic stability and recovery.<\/p>\n<p>This will bolster Pakistan\u2019s foreign exchange reserves as a mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is in Pakistan for an economic review under the $7 billion loan program.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) extended its $2 billion reserves held with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for another period.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made the announcement after a one-on-one meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Rahim Yar Khan.
