{"id":67768,"date":"2025-03-11T20:18:32","date_gmt":"2025-03-11T15:18:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=67768"},"modified":"2025-03-11T20:18:32","modified_gmt":"2025-03-11T15:18:32","slug":"pnsc-sells-two-operational-ships-despite-profitability-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pnsc-sells-two-operational-ships-despite-profitability-concerns\/","title":{"rendered":"PNSC sells two operational ships despite profitability concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: It has been reported that the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/cm-punjab-okays-honhaar-scholarships-for-students-of-other-provinces\/\">PNSC<\/a>) has disposed of two of its operational ships.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, the Cape One category ship \u201cLahore\u201d was earning $27,500 per day under a contract at the Iraqi port.<\/p>\n<p>The ship \u201cQuetta\u201d was earning about $12,000 per day through long-term contracts with Pakistani refineries.<\/p>\n<p>Reports have it that PNSC chartered an external ship \u201cSwan Lake\u201d to the refineries at a monthly cost of $800,000, resulting in a loss of $200,000.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of being scrapped, the operational and profitable ships were purchased by shipping companies. Their current freight market value is at least $40,000 per day.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the purchase of five ships for PNSC is pending with PPRA for approval.<\/p>\n<p>A PNSC spokesperson confirmed that the sale process was underway, stating that the decision had been approved by the board.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that the ships were not profitable, and new ships would be purchased once permission was granted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: It has been reported that the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) has disposed of two of its operational ships.
