{"id":68120,"date":"2025-03-15T17:03:40","date_gmt":"2025-03-15T12:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=68120"},"modified":"2025-03-15T17:03:40","modified_gmt":"2025-03-15T12:03:40","slug":"education-dept-starts-distributing-free-textbooks-in-lahore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/lahore\/education-dept-starts-distributing-free-textbooks-in-lahore\/","title":{"rendered":"Education dept starts distributing free textbooks in Lahore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Punjab Education Department has initiated the distribution of free-of-cost <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/punjab-announces-schedule-for-academic-year-2025-26\/\">textbooks<\/a> to 600,000 students in Lahore ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/punjab-govt-to-include-thalassemia-awareness-as-part-of-academic-syllabus\/\">new academic year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The education department&#8217;s spokesperson said that warehouses have been built in five tehsils including in Raiwind, City, Shalimar, Model Town, and Wagah.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The work of distributing books is going on transparently and provision of free textbooks is a good initiative of the Punjab government,&#8221; the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<p>As per details, the department has so far distributed around 150,000 books in Model Town tehsil out of the total target of 380,000 books.<\/p>\n<p>The process to provide free books to all children will be completed before the start of the new academic year under the instructions of the CEO Education.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Punjab Education Department announced the schedule for the next academic year 2025-26, which will begin on April 1, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board has updated the marking scheme for Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies, raising their total marks from 50 to 100 each.<\/p>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-473dfed elementor-widget elementor-widget-theme-post-content\" data-id=\"473dfed\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"theme-post-content.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p>According to the new policy, Islamic Studies will be tested in ninth grade, while Pakistan Studies will be evaluated in tenth grade.<\/p>\n<p>The PTBB has already published new textbooks according to the updated syllabus and initiated the printing process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2a992e4c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2a992e4c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Punjab Education Department has initiated the distribution of free-of-cost textbooks to 600,000 students in Lahore ahead of the new academic year.
