ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Waheed Murad was allegedly abducted<\/a> from his residence in Islamabad’s Sector G-8<\/span> in the wee hours of Wednesday, his wife confirmed.<\/p>\n

In a post on social media site X, Murad’s wife, Shinza Nawaz, said that masked men took her husband at 2 a.m. last night. “They kept asking repeatedly, \u2018Where is his wife?\u2019”<\/p>\n

“My mother, who has a heart condition, was also at home. She was also mistreated and pushed, and they also took her and Waheed’s phone and some papers,” she wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n

His wife told a local publication that men in black uniforms forcibly entered the house and accused her husband of being an Afghan and whisked him away in a black “dala”.<\/p>\n

Later, Murad’s mother-in-law filed a habeas corpus petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for the missing journalist’s recovery via Advocates Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha.<\/p>\n

The interior secretary, defence secretary, Islamabad inspector general of police, and the station house officer (SHO) of Karachi Company police station have been named as respondents in the plea.<\/p>\n

The petition requests an immediate order for the recovery of Murad and legal action against those involved in his unlawful abduction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Prominent journalists and members of the media community condemned Waheed Murad’s abduction and called for his immediate recovery.<\/p>\n
