{"id":69922,"date":"2025-04-07T13:51:51","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T08:51:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=69922"},"modified":"2025-04-07T13:51:51","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T08:51:51","slug":"journalist-farhan-mallick-gets-bail-in-two-separate-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/journalist-farhan-mallick-gets-bail-in-two-separate-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"Journalist Farhan Mallick gets bail in two separate cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The District and Sessions Court (East) in Karachi has approved bail for journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/journalist-farhan-mallick-faces-court-over-anti-state-content\/\">Farhan Mallick<\/a> in the \u201canti-state\u201d content case filed under the PECA.<\/p>\n<p>In another case related to data theft\u00a0through a call centre, Judicial Magistrate (Malir) Piyar Ali Khoso granted the\u00a0journalist bail.<\/p>\n<p>The court approved bails against surety bonds worth Rs100,000 in each of the two cases.<\/p>\n<p>The bail was approved by District and Sessions Judge (East) Dr Chaudhry Wasim Iqbal after Judicial Magistrate demiesed the <em>Raftar<\/em> founder&#8217;s bail application on March 28.<\/p>\n<p>An appeal\u00a0challenging that order was fixed for hearing on April 3 but was\u00a0postponed till today as the FIA claimed not having knowledge of the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, the petitioner\u2019s lawyer, Advocate Moiz Jafri, argued that the case has no legal standing, as no evidence has been presented despite the passage of significant time.<\/p>\n<p>Mallick was handed into the Federal Investigation Agency\u2019s (FIA) custody for\u00a0four days\u00a0a day after his arrest, following which he was\u00a0sent to jail\u00a0on judicial remand on March 25.<\/p>\n<p>The next day, the FIA was given Mallick\u2019s five-day physical custody in a\u00a0new case\u00a0pertaining to his alleged involvement in the theft of credit card data through \u201cspoofed calls\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The District and Sessions Court (East) in Karachi has approved bail for journalist Farhan Mallick in the \u201canti-state\u201d content case filed under the PECA.
