LAHORE: Following a hard-hitting interview, PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that his party has not quit the ruling coalition nor has it joined the Opposition.<\/p>\n
“Prime Minister Imran Khan is honest and his intentions are also good,” Elahi said on Wednesday in a statement that could be considered a fence mending move.<\/p>\n
The senior PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, in an interview with a private TV channel, had said that all allies of the government have a 100% tilt towards the Opposition.<\/p>\n
Responding to a question, Elahi had seconded PPP Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari\u2019s claim of having more than 172 lawmakers’ support on the Opposition’s side besides \u201cplenty of surprises in store\u201d.<\/p>\n
Pervaiz had also held the government responsible for its trouble, terming it devoid of wisdom.<\/p>\n
However, today, Elahi said that PML-Q is still an ally of the PTI but a separate party.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are allies and a separate party. There are different views in a party but decisions are taken through consultations.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are part of the government and have supported the government in every difficult time,\u201d Parvez Elahi added.<\/p>\n
The PML-Q leader said that they have been pointing out public issues since day one and advised the government to consult allies for its own good.<\/p>\n
Pervez Elahi\u2019s comments in the TV interview have raised many eyebrows and were being considered a message to the ruling party that all is not well within the alliance.<\/p>\n
He also complained of a witch-hunt by the government against his party.<\/p>\n
He had said a vengeful PM resorted to NAB to tackle his opponents, adding, \u201cwe started receiving threats from NAB when Moonis Elahi made a speech. This is not the way to govern.\u201d<\/p>\n
He had said the PML-Q has stood by the government, but it has spoiled its relations even with its own people and it is panicking because of its own members.<\/p>\n
