{"id":70597,"date":"2025-04-14T13:51:59","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T08:51:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=70597"},"modified":"2025-04-14T13:51:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T08:51:59","slug":"pakistan-receives-record-4-1bn-in-remittances-in-march-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/pakistan-receives-record-4-1bn-in-remittances-in-march-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan receives record $4.1bn in remittances in March 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: Pakistan&#8217;s workers\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/pakistan-gets-3-1bn-in-december-remittances-yoy-growth-of-29-6\/\">remittances <\/a>surged to a record high of $4.1 billion during March 2025, the State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmad said.<\/p>\n<p>Remittances from overseas <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/26-billion-due-in-external-payment-bulk-to-be-ruled-over-governor-sbp\/\">Pakistani workers<\/a> increased 37.3% year-on-year and a 29.8% month-on-month rise compared to February 2025, reaching $3.12 billion.<\/p>\n<p>It is the highest level of monthly remittances ever recorded in the country\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to January 2025, remittance inflows increased by 3.8pc, providing the much-needed financial support to the economy, government reserves and liquidity for importers.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a ceremony at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in Karachi, the State Bank Governor said the central bank has revised its projection for the cumulative receipt of the remittances to $38 billion for the full year of FY25 from the previous estimate of $36 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today, the SBP chief highlighted that foreign reserves were now projected to exceed $14bn by June.<\/p>\n<p>Cumulatively, workers sent home $28 billion during the first nine months of the current fiscal year (Jul- Mar FY25), reflecting a substantial 33.2% rise over the $21.0 billion received during the corresponding period of FY24.<\/p>\n<p>The record inflows in March were primarily driven by remittances from Saudi Arabia ($987.3 million), the United Arab Emirates ($842.1 million), the United Kingdom ($683.9 million), and the United States ($419.5 million).<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>He also added that foreign debt repayment obligations stood at $26bn for FY25 \u2014 from which $16bn was expected to be rolled over or refinanced, reducing actual repayment pressure to around $10bn.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: Pakistan&#8217;s workers\u2019 remittances surged to a record high of $4.1 billion during March 2025, the State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmad said.
