{"id":73191,"date":"2025-05-06T15:57:02","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T10:57:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=73191"},"modified":"2025-05-06T15:57:02","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T10:57:02","slug":"nearly-5-million-children-in-kp-are-out-of-school-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/nearly-5-million-children-in-kp-are-out-of-school-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Nearly 5 million children in KP are out of school: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR: A total of<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/145-illegal-educational-institutions-revealed-in-pakistan\/\"> 4.92 million<\/a> boys and girls, which makes 37% of the children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), are not enrolled in school, according to a newly released document from the provincial <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/all-educational-institutions-to-remain-closed-on-april-26\/\">education department.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Most children out of school are from Kolai-Palas Kohistan, where over 80,000 boys and girls are not getting basic education, with Lower and Upper Kohistan, with 79% of children not enrolled in any educational institution.<\/p>\n<p>However, Upper Chitral has topped the list with only 10% of children out of educational institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly half a million children in Peshawar are not enrolled in any school, with more than half of them being girls, indicating a major gender gap in accessibility to education.<\/p>\n<p>KP Education Minister Faisal Tarakai noted the severity of the crisis, adding that the government is currently working hard to get children back in the school.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tarakai, &#8220;1.3 million children were enrolled in schools last year,&#8221; with a goal of enrolling one million more this year.
