ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of China to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong<\/a> Wednesday called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and discussed the current situation following India\u2019s aggression against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

DPM\/FM<\/a> briefed the Chinese Ambassador on the serious situation following India\u2019s unprovoked violation of Pakistan\u2019s sovereignty and the tragic loss of innocent lives.<\/div>\n

He underscored Pakistan\u2019s firm resolve to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The two sides exchanged views on regional security developments and agreed to maintain close coordination and communication across all relevant areas.<\/div>\n

Earlier, China on Wednesday expressed regret and concern over Indian strikes on Pakistan, urging both sides to show restraint in response to a major escalation between its nuclear-armed neighbours.<\/p>\n

India and Pakistan exchanged heavy artillery along their contested frontier on Wednesday, after New Delhi launched missile strikes on its arch-rival.<\/p>\n

Pakistan said Indian strikes had killed at least eight people, and India said Pakistani artillery fire had killed three civilians along the de facto border in contested Kashmir.<\/p>\n

China, which shares land borders with both countries and is a close ally of Pakistan, said it expressed \u201cregret over India\u2019s military action this morning\u201d and said it was \u201cconcerned about the current developments\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndia and Pakistan are neighbours that cannot be moved apart, and they are also China\u2019s neighbours,\u201d a foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cChina opposes all forms of terrorism,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe call on both India and Pakistan to prioritise peace and stability, remain calm and restrained and avoid taking actions that further complicate the situation,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
