{"id":73772,"date":"2025-05-09T22:28:36","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T17:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=73772"},"modified":"2025-05-09T22:28:36","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T17:28:36","slug":"nepra-announces-massive-cut-in-electricity-prices-nationwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/nepra-announces-massive-cut-in-electricity-prices-nationwide\/","title":{"rendered":"NEPRA announces massive cut in electricity prices nationwide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/nepra-proposes-50-paisa-per-unit-relief-for-consumers\/\">National Electric Power Regulatory Authority<\/a> (NEPRA) has announced a drop\u00a0<span class=\"diff-highlight\">in<\/span> electricity prices by Rs1.55 per unit <span class=\"diff-highlight\">nationwide<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">in<\/span> Pakistan, including Karachi<span class=\"diff-highlight\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">As<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">per<\/span> reports, this <span class=\"diff-highlight\">reduction<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">has<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">been<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">given<\/span> in <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/carneys-liberals-win-canada-election-defined-by-trump\/\">electricity prices<\/a> under the third quarterly adjustment of the current fiscal year. <span class=\"diff-highlight\">With<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">regards<\/span> to NEPRA<span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8216;<\/span>s official notification, the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">amended<\/span> electricity prices will <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">applicable<\/span> for the months of May to July.<\/p>\n<p>The decision is <span class=\"diff-highlight\">hoped<\/span> to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">give<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">huge<\/span> financial relief to power consumers <span class=\"diff-highlight\">across<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">country<\/span>. The <span class=\"diff-highlight\">reduction<\/span> in electricity prices <span class=\"diff-highlight\">will<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">include<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> benefit <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">electricity<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">consumers<\/span> of Rs 52.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">People<\/span> in residential and commercial <span class=\"diff-highlight\">use<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">are<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">also<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">expected<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">notice<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">a<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">reduction<\/span> in their <span class=\"diff-highlight\">subsequent<\/span> electricity bills. NEPRA <span class=\"diff-highlight\">has<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">said<\/span> that the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">cut<\/span> in electricity prices <span class=\"diff-highlight\">is<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">due<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> better management <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">efficiency<\/span> in the power sector.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">The<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">aforementioned<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">can<\/span> also <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">seen<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">as<\/span> the government <span class=\"diff-highlight\">assisting<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">with<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">inflation<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> relieving\u00a0<span class=\"diff-highlight\">existing<\/span> economic <span class=\"diff-highlight\">pressure<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">on<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">people<\/span>.
