ISLAMABAD: Now<\/span>,<\/span> even<\/span> second<\/span> division<\/span> students<\/span> can<\/span> be<\/span> doctors as the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council<\/a> (PMDC) has eased<\/span> admission criteria for MBBS.<\/p>\n

The criteria<\/span> have<\/span> been changed<\/span> to prevent<\/span> loss of vacant seats in<\/span> private<\/span> medical<\/span> colleges<\/span>. Anyone<\/span> with 50%<\/span> marks for MBBS and 45%<\/span> marks for BDS can<\/span> be<\/span> admitted<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Individuals<\/span> with fewer<\/span> marks can now<\/span> also take admissions<\/span> in vacant seats in private medical and dental colleges. On<\/span> this<\/span> occasion,<\/span> PMDC has<\/span> relaxed the criteria for private medical colleges for<\/span> the<\/span> first<\/span> time<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the\u00a0Pakistan Medical and Dental Council<\/a>\u00a0(PMDC) has\u00a0issued<\/span>\u00a0new academic regulations for medical and dental students\u00a0in<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0country<\/span>.<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0regulations<\/span>, students need to\u00a0obtain<\/span>\u00a0at least 65% marks to pass and\u00a0have<\/span>\u00a0a minimum attendance of 85% in all medical and dental colleges.<\/p>\n

The<\/span>\u00a0new<\/span>\u00a0regulations<\/span>\u00a0come<\/span>\u00a0soon<\/span>\u00a0after the\u00a0University of Health Sciences<\/a> (UHS) Punjab announced<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0same<\/span>\u00a0regulations,\u00a0albeit<\/span> slightly different in<\/span>\u00a0requirements,<\/span>\u00a0where<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0UHS<\/span>\u00a0required<\/span>\u00a090%\u00a0attendance<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0a<\/span>\u00a0passing\u00a0score<\/span>\u00a0of 70%.<\/p>\n

The UHS\u00a0has<\/span>\u00a0caught<\/span> the attention\u00a0of<\/span>\u00a0students<\/span>\u00a0as<\/span>\u00a0well<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0introducing<\/span>\u00a0a\u00a0tracking<\/span> system to directly monitor student attendance, and<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0students<\/span>\u2018<\/span>\u00a0respective<\/span>\u00a0colleges<\/span>\u00a0submit\u00a0biometric<\/span>\u00a0records<\/span>\u00a0on<\/span>\u00a0student<\/span>\u00a0attendance<\/a>\u00a0every month.<\/p>\n
