{"id":74530,"date":"2025-05-15T19:22:03","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T14:22:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=74530"},"modified":"2025-05-15T19:22:03","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T14:22:03","slug":"trump-says-pakistan-india-dispute-is-settled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/trump-says-pakistan-india-dispute-is-settled\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump says Pakistan-India dispute is settled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DOHA (REUTERS): United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday that <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pm-shehbaz-coas-praise-troops-bravery-in-operation-bunyanum-marsoos\/\">hostilities<\/a> between Pakistan and India were settled, after he urged the two countries to focus on trade instead of war.<\/p>\n<p>He told US troops at a base in Qatar during a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/trump-says-us-close-to-a-nuclear-deal-with-iran\/\">Gulf tour<\/a> that Pakistan and India were happy with that.<\/p>\n<p>The nuclear-armed neighbours halted their worst fighting in nearly three decades after agreeing to a ceasefire on Saturday, following diplomacy and pressure from the United States.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-india-trade-deal\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-small-font-size\">India trade deal<\/h2>\n<p>Trump also discussed a trade deal offered by India on Thursday that proposed \u201cno tariffs\u201d for American goods, while expressing his dissatisfaction with Apple\u2019s\u00a0(AAPL.O)\u00a0plans to invest in India.<\/p>\n<p>New Delhi is\u00a0seeking to clinch\u00a0a trade deal with the US within the 90-day pause announced by Trump on April 9 on tariff hikes for major trading partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is very hard to sell in India, and they are offering us a deal where basically they are willing to literally charge us no tariffs,\u201d Trump said in a meeting with executives in the Qatari capital Doha.<\/p>\n<p>Reuters has reported that New Delhi has\u00a0offered\u00a0to\u00a0reduce duties\u00a0to zero on 60 per cent of tariff lines in a first phase of the deal under negotiation with Washington, while offering preferential access to nearly 90 per cent of the merchandise India imports from the US.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DOHA (REUTERS): United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday that hostilities between Pakistan and India were settled, after he urged the two countries to focus on trade instead of war.
