The government may issue a notification today.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">The<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">increase<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">if<\/span> approved by <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> finance minister, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">would<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">see<\/span> petrol <span class=\"diff-highlight\">priced<\/span> around Rs255 per liter <span class=\"diff-highlight\">by<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">May<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">16<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> while high-speed diesel may be priced between Rs249 and Rs250 from <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">same<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">date<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The rise <span class=\"diff-highlight\">can<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> attributed to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">ongoing<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">rise<\/span> in global crude markets driven by <span class=\"diff-highlight\">expectations<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">a<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">rebound<\/span> in <span class=\"diff-highlight\">global<\/span> oil demand <span class=\"diff-highlight\">in<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">light<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> easing trade tensions between the United States and China.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">Recently<\/span>, US crude prices <span class=\"diff-highlight\">rose<\/span> 1.2pc <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> $62.62 per barrel, while Brent crude <span class=\"diff-highlight\">also<\/span> rose 1.1% to $64.86 per barrel<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> gains <span class=\"diff-highlight\">reported<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">part<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> a <span class=\"diff-highlight\">wider<\/span> upward trend on Monday, when US crude <span class=\"diff-highlight\">reached<\/span> a two week high of $63.57 and Brent <span class=\"diff-highlight\">saw<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">a<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">rise<\/span> to $66.34 <span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8211;<\/span> the highest <span class=\"diff-highlight\">price<\/span> since late April.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved an increase in the prices of petroleum products for the coming 15 days.
