RAWALPINDI: \u00a0The<\/span> water level in the<\/span> Khanpur Dam<\/a> has declined<\/span> significantly, and<\/span> it<\/span> may only last for a few days, according<\/span> to<\/span> the<\/span> official<\/span> data<\/span> released<\/span> on<\/span> Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The water level<\/a> in Khanpur dam has declined from 1982 feet to 1930 feet, which is<\/span> just 20 feet higher than its<\/span> dead level of 1910<\/span> feet. This<\/span> has<\/span> raised alarm<\/span> bells<\/span> and<\/span> questions<\/span> concerning<\/span> the<\/span> possible impact it<\/span> may<\/span> have<\/span> on the water supply to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n

The<\/span> daily<\/span> water inflow was recorded on Saturday at a<\/span> mere<\/span> 57 cusecs,<\/span> with<\/span> an<\/span> outflow of<\/span> 186 cusecs per day indicating<\/span> a<\/span> widening<\/span> gap<\/span> between the<\/span> amounts<\/span> of<\/span> water<\/span> being<\/span> taken<\/span> and what<\/span> is<\/span> available<\/span>.<\/p>\n

On<\/span> Friday<\/span>, the<\/span> Indus River System Authority<\/a> (IRSA) released<\/span> a<\/span> total<\/span> of<\/span> 164,253 cusecs of<\/span> water, including<\/span> from the<\/span> various rim stations,<\/span> with an<\/span> inflow of 183,318 cusecs.<\/p>\n

According to other<\/span> data provided<\/span> by IRSA, the water in the River Indus at Tarbela Dam was approximately<\/span> 1464.93 feet, or<\/span> 62.93 feet over<\/span> the dead level of 1402.00 feet.<\/p>\n

The<\/span> inflow and outflow of<\/span> water<\/span> in the dam are<\/span> as follows<\/span>:<\/span> inflow<\/span> of<\/span> 91,800 cusecs versus<\/span> outflow<\/span> of<\/span> 82,000 cusecs. The water level of<\/span> the River Jhelum at Mangla Dam is<\/span> recorded<\/span> at<\/span> 1145.95 feet, or<\/span> 95.95 feet over<\/span> its dead level of 1050<\/span> feet.<\/p>\n

Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu, and Sukkur‘<\/span>s<\/span> water<\/span> releases<\/span> were<\/span> recorded as 106,037, 86,051, 55,151, and 19,300 cusecs, respectively.<\/p>\n
