{"id":74726,"date":"2025-05-18T11:32:54","date_gmt":"2025-05-18T06:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=74726"},"modified":"2025-05-18T11:32:54","modified_gmt":"2025-05-18T06:32:54","slug":"mob-attacks-rehab-center-to-free-drug-addicts-in-karachi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/mob-attacks-rehab-center-to-free-drug-addicts-in-karachi\/","title":{"rendered":"Mob attacks rehab center to free drug addicts in Karachi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: In a <span class=\"diff-highlight\">significant<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">occurrence<\/span>, a rehabilitation center was <span class=\"diff-highlight\">besieged<\/span> by <span class=\"diff-highlight\">angry<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">groups<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">people<\/span> demanding to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">set<\/span> drug addicts admitted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sialkot-international-airport-achieves-milestone-in-runway-rehabilitation\/\">rehabilitation center<\/a> free in Karachi.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">Reportedly<\/span>, the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">groups<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">people<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">surrounded<\/span> a rehabilitation center in Orangi Town, Karachi<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> and allegedly freed 127 <span class=\"diff-highlight\">patients<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">receiving<\/span> treatment for drug addiction.<\/p>\n<p>The <span class=\"diff-highlight\">groups<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">people<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">ransacked<\/span> the facility, assaulted <span class=\"diff-highlight\">its<\/span> staff <span class=\"diff-highlight\">members<\/span>, and damaged a police mobile unit <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">shambles<\/span>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/adb-approves-320m-loan-to-support-rural-roads-rehabilitation-in-kp\/\">Sunshine Rehab Center<\/a>, which was targeted in the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">incident<\/span>, is <span class=\"diff-highlight\">financed<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> operated by <span class=\"diff-highlight\">a<\/span> Sindh Police officer <span class=\"diff-highlight\">named<\/span> Abdul Khaliq Ansari.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">When<\/span> the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">incident<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">occurred<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> 10 to 12 staff members were attending\u00a0<span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">patients<\/span> in Orangi Town, Karachi. The <span class=\"diff-highlight\">management<\/span> of the rehab center in Karachi has <span class=\"diff-highlight\">given<\/span> a formal statement to the police, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">which<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">is<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">now<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">in<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">process<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">registering<\/span> an FIR and <span class=\"diff-highlight\">looking<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">for<\/span> the escaped <span class=\"diff-highlight\">patients<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">During<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">initial<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">stage<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> the investigation<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">however<\/span>, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> Mominabad Police Station\u2019s SHO <span class=\"diff-highlight\">said<\/span> that the assault may not <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">result<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/anf-foils-rs-2-billion-drug-smuggling-bid-to-dubai\/\"> drug dealers<\/a> but of <span class=\"diff-highlight\">an<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">angry<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">resident<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>He <span class=\"diff-highlight\">stated<\/span> that the neighborhood <span class=\"diff-highlight\">has<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">been<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">incensed<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">by<\/span> the patients, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">whom<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">they<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">allege<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">are<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">thieves<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">criminals,<\/span> which <span class=\"diff-highlight\">may<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">have<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">incited<\/span> the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">riot<\/span> action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: In a significant occurrence, a rehabilitation center was besieged by angry groups of people demanding to set drug addicts admitted in the rehabilitation center free in Karachi.
