{"id":74733,"date":"2025-05-18T13:18:39","date_gmt":"2025-05-18T08:18:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=74733"},"modified":"2025-05-18T13:18:39","modified_gmt":"2025-05-18T08:18:39","slug":"pm-forms-steering-committee-to-implement-national-tariff-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pm-forms-steering-committee-to-implement-national-tariff-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"PM forms steering committee to implement National Tariff Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has <span class=\"diff-highlight\">constituted<\/span> a steering committee to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">implement<\/span> the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pm-shehbaz-constitutes-committee-for-implementation-of-national-tariff-policy\/\">National Tariff Policy<\/a><span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">which<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">aims<\/span> to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">bolster<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> export potential <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">Pakistan<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">while<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">reviving<\/span> industries <span class=\"diff-highlight\">that<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">have<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">been<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">adversely<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">affected<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The <span class=\"diff-highlight\">committee<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">was<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">formed<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">with<\/span> a notification <span class=\"diff-highlight\">issued<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">by<\/span> the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/commerce-ministry-shifts-blame-to-exporters-for-unfit-rice-exports-to-eu\/\"><span class=\"diff-highlight\">Ministry<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">Commerce<\/span><\/a>, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">announcing<\/span> Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb as its chairman.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">Apart<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">from<\/span> the Ministers for Commerce, Petroleum, and Food Security, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">committee<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">will<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">also<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">include<\/span> the Minister of State for Railways, the Special Secretary of the Prime Minister<span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8216;<\/span>s Office, and the Secretary for Industries and Production.<\/p>\n<p>Dr.Manzoor Ahmad, Rubina Athar, and Aijaz Nabi are also members <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">committee<\/span>, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">while<\/span> the Secretary of Commerce <span class=\"diff-highlight\">will<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">act<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">as<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">its<\/span> secretary.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Commerce <span class=\"diff-highlight\">shall<\/span> provide <span class=\"diff-highlight\">secretariat<\/span> support to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">facilitate<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">committee<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8216;<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">s<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">work<\/span>. The committee <span class=\"diff-highlight\">shall<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">prepare<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">proposals<\/span> to boost exports through the tariff policy, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">assess<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">influence<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> the\u00a0<span class=\"diff-highlight\">tariff<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">policy<\/span> on <span class=\"diff-highlight\">a<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">range<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">of<\/span> industries, and <span class=\"diff-highlight\">recommend<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">any<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">restorations<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">on<\/span> sectors <span class=\"diff-highlight\">affected<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">by<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">tariffs<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The development <span class=\"diff-highlight\">follows<\/span> Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif<span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8216;<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">s<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">announcement<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">concerning<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> major tariff reforms, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">stating<\/span> that <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">maximum<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">customs<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">duty<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">imposed<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">will<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> 15% <span class=\"diff-highlight\">whilst<\/span> additional customs<span class=\"diff-highlight\">\/<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">revenue<\/span> duties <span class=\"diff-highlight\">will<\/span> be <span class=\"diff-highlight\">abolished<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">over<\/span> the next <span class=\"diff-highlight\">4<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8211;<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">5<\/span> years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has constituted a steering committee to implement the National Tariff Policy, which aims to bolster the export potential of Pakistan while reviving industries that have been adversely affected.
