{"id":74830,"date":"2025-05-19T14:30:56","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T09:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=74830"},"modified":"2025-05-19T14:30:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T09:30:56","slug":"wedding-halls-set-to-pay-heavy-taxes-under-new-categorization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/wedding-halls-set-to-pay-heavy-taxes-under-new-categorization\/","title":{"rendered":"Wedding halls set to pay heavy taxes under new categorization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/mob-attacks-rehab-center-to-free-drug-addicts-in-karachi\/\"> Karachi Metropolitan Corporation<\/a> has decided to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">begin<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">taxing<\/span> wedding halls <span class=\"diff-highlight\">within<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">several<\/span> categories, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">such<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">as<\/span> beautification, live cooking, barbecues, and parking.<\/p>\n<p>According to a plan <span class=\"diff-highlight\">agreed<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">upon<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">in<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">response<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> a request from the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/mass-wedding-of-80-couples-held-under-cm-maryam-dhee-rani-program\/\">Wedding Halls Association<\/a>, challans will be issued to halls based on <span class=\"diff-highlight\">attendance<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">.<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">This<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">would<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">done<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">by<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">enforcing<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">taxation<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">in<\/span> the Sindh Local Government Act<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> 2013<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">as<\/span> amended.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">The<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">authorities<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">would<\/span> also consider <span class=\"diff-highlight\">other<\/span> facilities <span class=\"diff-highlight\">such<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">as<\/span> manpower, banquets, clubs, and ballrooms <span class=\"diff-highlight\">when<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">assessing<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">tax<\/span>. <span class=\"diff-highlight\">To<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">taxed<\/span> in <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">District<\/span> West, Central, and East<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">wedding<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">halls<\/span> will <span class=\"diff-highlight\">have<\/span> the following tax <span class=\"diff-highlight\">rates<\/span>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rs. 30,000 for gatherings of more than 500 guests<\/li>\n<li>Rs. 20,000 for up to 500 guests<\/li>\n<li>Rs 10,000 for 300 guests<\/li>\n<li>Rs . 5,000 for 150 guests<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"p-alsoread\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">However, halls in the Korangi and Malir districts are set to pay slightly lower rates as compared to above mentioned places.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rs 25,000 for more than 500 guests<\/li>\n<li>Rs 15,000 for up to 500 guests<\/li>\n<li>Rs 7,500 for 300 guests<\/li>\n<li>Rs 5,000 for 150 guests<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<p>The new tax plan is aimed at regulating the wedding industry and ensuring compliance with local government laws.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-3\" align=\"center\">\n<div id=\"pp_prlx_gen\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has decided to begin taxing wedding halls within several categories, such as beautification, live cooking, barbecues, and parking.
