{"id":74846,"date":"2025-05-19T15:41:31","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T10:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=74846"},"modified":"2025-05-19T15:41:31","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T10:41:31","slug":"anf-rejects-bill-proposed-to-do-drug-testing-in-educational-institutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/anf-rejects-bill-proposed-to-do-drug-testing-in-educational-institutions\/","title":{"rendered":"ANF rejects bill proposed to do drug testing in educational institutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ecp-approves-papers-of-four-candidates-for-senate-by-election\/\">Senate Standing Committee<\/a> on Interior, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">led<\/span> by Senator Faisal Saleem, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">met<\/span> to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">tackle<\/span> various <span class=\"diff-highlight\">pressing<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">matters<\/span> including <span class=\"diff-highlight\">some<\/span> legislation <span class=\"diff-highlight\">pertaining<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> preventing drug use in educational institutions.<\/p>\n<p>During <span class=\"diff-highlight\">this<\/span> meeting, Senator Mohsin Aziz <span class=\"diff-highlight\">put<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">forward<\/span> a bill concerning <span class=\"diff-highlight\">no<\/span> drug use in educational institutions. The proposed legislation <span class=\"diff-highlight\">said<\/span> that <span class=\"diff-highlight\">where<\/span> a student <span class=\"diff-highlight\">tests<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">positive<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">for<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">drugs<\/span>, <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">first<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">offense<\/span> would receive a warning<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">second<\/span> a 15-day suspension <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">third<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">offense<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">would<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">receive<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">penalties<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">punishment<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">The<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/anf-foils-rs-2-billion-drug-smuggling-bid-to-dubai\/\">Anti-Narcotics Force<\/a> (ANF) commented on the bill, stating that children are <span class=\"diff-highlight\">seen<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">as<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">victim<\/span> in drug cases and <span class=\"diff-highlight\">that<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">criminals<\/span> are <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> drug <span class=\"diff-highlight\">traffickers<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The officials <span class=\"diff-highlight\">also<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">told<\/span> the committee that scanning has been <span class=\"diff-highlight\">accomplished<\/span> in 80<span class=\"diff-highlight\">%<\/span> of educational institutions but <span class=\"diff-highlight\">that<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">when<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">it<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">comes<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">drug<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">testing<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">it<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">is<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">not<\/span> the ANF\u2019s <span class=\"diff-highlight\">responsibility<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">test<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Senator Shahadat Awan <span class=\"diff-highlight\">objected<\/span> to the bill <span class=\"diff-highlight\">because<\/span> it <span class=\"diff-highlight\">was<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">said<\/span> to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">be<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">an<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">attempt<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">infringe<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">on<\/span> provincial authority. The Ministry of Law supported this <span class=\"diff-highlight\">position<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">said<\/span> that the matter should be <span class=\"diff-highlight\">left<\/span> to the education department <span class=\"diff-highlight\">and<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">not<\/span> the ANF.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior, led by Senator Faisal Saleem, met to tackle various pressing matters including some legislation pertaining to preventing drug use in educational institutions.
