{"id":74857,"date":"2025-05-19T16:43:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T11:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=74857"},"modified":"2025-05-19T17:38:46","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T12:38:46","slug":"jcp-appoints-justice-ijaz-swati-as-bhc-chief-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/jcp-appoints-justice-ijaz-swati-as-bhc-chief-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"JCP appoints Justice Ejaz Swati as BHC chief justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"76\" data-end=\"271\">QUETTA: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/featured\/jcp-approves-six-judges-for-elevation-to-supreme-court\/\">(JCP)<\/a> has appointed Justice Ijaz Swati as the permanent Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/justice-mansoor-skips-as-full-court-reference-held-to-honor-outgoing-cjp-faez-isa\/\">(BHC)<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"76\" data-end=\"271\">The appointment was made during a meeting of the JCP under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"76\" data-end=\"271\">Three names were under consideration for the position of Chief Justice of Balochistan under a one-point agenda. The nomination was approved unanimously by the commission.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"273\" data-end=\"514\">The decision of the commission has been duly communicated to the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister through an official letter.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"273\" data-end=\"514\">Justice Ijaz Swati has been serving as a senior judge at the BHC and is widely respected for his legal acumen and judicial conduct.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"911\">Justice Swati\u2019s appointment now awaits final approval by the President, as per the constitutional procedure outlined in Article 175A of the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"911\">The BHC had been functioning without a permanent chief justice since the elevation of former chief justice Hashim Khan Kakar to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"911\">Earlier, the JCP dropped the agenda of the appointment of the chief justices of other High Courts of the country due to an ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QUETTA: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has appointed Justice Ijaz Swati as the permanent Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday.
