ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority<\/a> has approved<\/span> the<\/span> consultancy services for a theme park, a Ferris wheel, and a cable car,<\/span> which<\/span> is<\/span> a<\/span> significant<\/span> advance<\/span> for<\/span> Islamabad<\/span>‘<\/span>s<\/span> recreational<\/span> tourism<\/span> infrastructure<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> Development<\/span> Working<\/span> Party<\/span>,<\/span> CDA,<\/span> approved PC-II level consultancy<\/span> services<\/span> in<\/span> its<\/span> 75th<\/span> meeting<\/span> on<\/span> Tuesday<\/span>.<\/span> The<\/span> consultancy<\/span> reports<\/span> will<\/span> include<\/span> construction<\/span> budget<\/span> estimates<\/span>,<\/span> a<\/span> feasibility<\/span> study<\/span>, and<\/span> design<\/span> work<\/span> for<\/span> all<\/span> three<\/span>,<\/span> with<\/span> estimated<\/span> prices<\/span> of<\/span>:<\/p>\n

Theme Park<\/a> –<\/span> approved<\/span> feasibility<\/span> and design services for<\/span> Rs. 206 million, Ferris Wheel –<\/span> approved<\/span> feasibility<\/span> and design services for Rs. 61.8 million, Cable Car –<\/span> approved consultancy<\/span> services<\/span> for<\/span> an<\/span> estimate<\/span> of Rs. 197.76 million.<\/p>\n

Officials noted<\/span> that Islamabad, with<\/span> a<\/span> current<\/span> population<\/span> of<\/span> two million people, is<\/span> experiencing<\/span> a growing demand for recreational and entertainment facilities.<\/p>\n

With<\/span> a domestic and international reputation<\/span> for<\/span> tourism<\/span>, the city is primed<\/span> to<\/span> accommodate<\/span> such initiatives<\/span>. The consultancy<\/span> reports<\/span> should<\/span> be completed within six months,<\/span> after<\/span> which<\/span> the<\/span> city<\/span> and<\/span> the<\/span> CDA<\/span> will determine<\/span> whether<\/span> to<\/span> proceed<\/span> with<\/span> the construction<\/span> of<\/span> these<\/span> projects<\/span>.<\/p>\n
