{"id":7517,"date":"2022-04-06T14:32:14","date_gmt":"2022-04-06T14:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=7517"},"modified":"2022-04-06T14:32:14","modified_gmt":"2022-04-06T14:32:14","slug":"process-to-appoint-interim-pm-violation-of-law-constitution-shahbaz-tells-president-alvi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/process-to-appoint-interim-pm-violation-of-law-constitution-shahbaz-tells-president-alvi\/","title":{"rendered":"Process to appoint interim PM &#8216;violation of law, Constitution&#8217;, Shahbaz tells President Alvi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif informed President Arif Alvi on Wednesday that the Opposition does not agree with the suggestion of appointing Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed as the interim prime minister and that the process for the appointment issued by the head of the state was a \u201cviolation of law and Constitution\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter, Shahbaz confirmed to the president that he had received his April 4 message regarding the appointment of a caretaker prime minister.<\/p>\n<p>The PML-N president informed President Alvi that the speaker\u2019s ruling on April 3 on the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan was a \u201cblatant violation of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan&#8221; and the &#8220;Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business\u201d of the lower house.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe entire super-structure built thereon, including all consequential notifications relating to dismissal of the Resolution, advice of the Prime Minister regarding dissolution of the National Assembly, and continuation of the Prime minister in office are all illegal, without lawful authority and of no legal effect,\u201d wrote Shahbaz.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"medium-insert-embeds\" contenteditable=\"false\">\n<figure>\n<div class=\"medium-insert-embed \"><iframe class=\"scribd_iframe_embed\" tabindex=\"0\" title=\"CamScanner 04-06-2022 14.56\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/embeds\/568320916\/content?start_page=1&amp;view_mode=scroll&amp;access_key=key-1jBoXv21McVJCot9RXLU\" width=\"100%\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-auto-height=\"true\" data-aspect-ratio=\"1.4160125588697017\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<div class=\"medium-insert-embeds-overlay\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The former Opposition leader also informed President Alvi that the Supreme Court is holding suo motu hearings on the National Assembly deputy speaker\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n<p>He also shared the apex court\u2019s ruling, stating that \u201cany order passed by the prime minister and the president shall be subject to the order of the Court\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThus process of appointment of caretaker Prime Minister started by you under Article 224(1A) of continuation in a hurried manner is simply to defeat the process of law and constitution without waiting for decision in sou motu case and petitions filed by combined opposition parties and other petitions challenging rejection of no-confidence resolution against prime minister and prorogation of requisitioned session of National Assembly by deputy speaker and consequent dissolution of National Assembly by prime minister, which are still pending adjudication before Supreme Court.
