JAIPUR: Following<\/span> the recent ceasefire agreement<\/a> with Pakistan, reports<\/span> indicate<\/span> a surge<\/span> of Hindu nationalism has led<\/span> to<\/span> some<\/span> cultural changes in India, including the renaming of traditional sweets.<\/p>\n

Indian media has<\/span> indicated<\/span> that<\/span> sweet shop owners in Jaipur, Rajasthan, have changed<\/span> the<\/span> names<\/span> of<\/span> sweets<\/span>;<\/span> as an<\/span> example,<\/span> \u2018Moti Pak\u2019, \u2018Aam Pak\u2019, and \u2018Gond Pak\u2019 are<\/span> now<\/span> called<\/span> \u2018Moti Shree\u2019, \u2018Aam Shree\u2019, and \u2018Gond Shree\u2019.<\/p>\n

The change is in<\/span> order<\/span> to<\/span> eliminate<\/span> the word \u2018Pak\u2019- a common ending<\/span> in Indian sweets<\/span>– which some now associate with Pakistan. Shopkeepers claim<\/span> the renaming represents<\/span> the zeitgeist<\/span> of<\/span> nationalism<\/span> and<\/span> demonstrates<\/span> solidarity with the<\/span> Indian army after<\/span> \u2018Operation Sindoor\u2019.<\/p>\n

However, this is not the first time that India has taken such an extremist step; earlier, Pakistani songs were removed from the popular streaming platform Spotify in India following a government advisory.<\/p>\n

The move came amid India\u2019s recent\u00a0boycott campaign<\/a>\u00a0against Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack and military aggression.<\/p>\n

Popular tracks such as\u00a0Maand, Jhol, Faasle,<\/em>\u00a0and others have disappeared from the platform,\u00a0NDTV<\/em>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n

As per details, the Indian government on May 8 issued an advisory directing all OTT platforms, media streaming services, and digital intermediaries to immediately cease the streaming of content originating from Pakistan.<\/p>\n

The platforms were advised to discontinue the web series, films, songs, podcasts, and other streaming media content, whether made available on a subscription-based model or otherwise, having their origins in Pakistan, with immediate effect, the advisory read.<\/p>\n
