{"id":76099,"date":"2025-05-30T23:00:25","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T18:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=76099"},"modified":"2025-05-30T22:31:57","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T17:31:57","slug":"weekly-inflation-in-pakistan-records-to-0-81-decrease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/weekly-inflation-in-pakistan-records-to-0-81-decrease\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly inflation in Pakistan records to 0.81% decrease"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/youm-e-takbeer-being-celebrated-nationwide-with-national-spirit-and-fervour\/\">Sensitive Price Indicator<\/a> (SPI) for the week ending May 29 showed a 0.81% decrease in weekly inflation, driven by significant declines in key commodities.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">The decrease in inflation comes because of<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">sizeable<\/span> decline in chicken <span class=\"diff-highlight\">prices<\/span> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/ogra-cuts-lpg-price-by-3-20-per-kg-for-may-2025\/\">LPG prices<\/a> in Pakistan, the latest <span class=\"diff-highlight\">report<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">from<\/span> the country<span class=\"diff-highlight\">&#8216;<\/span>s <span class=\"diff-highlight\">chief<\/span> statistical <span class=\"diff-highlight\">agency<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">showed<\/span><span class=\"diff-highlight\">.<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">According<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS)<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">during<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">the<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">last<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">week<\/span>, the power tariff <span class=\"diff-highlight\">declined<\/span> by 10.10 per cent.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"diff-highlight\">Chicken<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">prices<\/span> followed <span class=\"diff-highlight\">at<\/span> 8.81 per cent<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> and LPG <span class=\"diff-highlight\">was<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">a<\/span> 2.67 per cent <span class=\"diff-highlight\">decline<\/span>. It <span class=\"diff-highlight\">uses<\/span> SPI <span class=\"diff-highlight\">(<\/span>Sensitive Price Indicator<span class=\"diff-highlight\">)<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"diff-highlight\">to<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">observe<\/span> the inflation <span class=\"diff-highlight\">trend<\/span> in Pakistan. On the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">contrary<\/span>, CPI (Consumer Price Index) is <span class=\"diff-highlight\">used<\/span> globally to <span class=\"diff-highlight\">calculate<\/span> the inflation rate <span class=\"diff-highlight\">for<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">each<\/span> month.<\/p>\n<p>The <span class=\"diff-highlight\">decline<\/span> comes <span class=\"diff-highlight\">amidst<\/span> the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">finding<\/span> that <span class=\"diff-highlight\">other<\/span> edible items <span class=\"diff-highlight\">saw<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">some<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">high<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">increases<\/span>, including tomatoes<span class=\"diff-highlight\">,<\/span> as well as eggs and pulses.<\/p>\n<p>However, the <span class=\"diff-highlight\">huge<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">decrease<\/span> in electricity, chicken, and LPG prices <span class=\"diff-highlight\">outweighed<\/span> <span class=\"diff-highlight\">any<\/span> increase. <span class=\"diff-highlight\">Previously<\/span>, Pakistan recorded just 0.3 per cent inflation in April, after CPI <span class=\"diff-highlight\">recorded<\/span> an unprecedented all-time high <span class=\"diff-highlight\">at<\/span> 38 per cent in May 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ending May 29 showed a 0.81% decrease in weekly inflation, driven by significant declines in key commodities.
