MAKKAH: Pakistan’s pre-Hajj<\/a> flight operation will conclude today as over 87,000 pilgrims have landed in Saudi Arabia so far under the government scheme, while 21,984 pilgrims have reached under the private scheme.<\/a><\/p>\n

Secretary Religious Affairs Dr Syed Ata ur Rehman said only five flights are left for today, which are scheduled from Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi to bring the remaining pilgrims to Makkah.<\/p>\n

The Secretary noted that historic arrangements are being made, and the facilities available to the pilgrims are luxurious.<\/p>\n

He stated that traditional mattresses had been replaced with sofa-cum-beds, and air conditioners had been put alongside existing air coolers. Elevated baggage storage racks and shoe racks have also been added to improve comfort.<\/p>\n

Dr. Syed Ata ur Rehman praised the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that pilgrims had a fulfilling experience.<\/p>\n

To a query, he asked the Hujjaj to protect the national image throughout this spiritual journey by rigorously adhering to Saudi rules, which are established to ensure the smooth operation of Hajj.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Saudi Arabian\u00a0officials<\/span> had issued a\u00a0heat\u00a0warning<\/span>\u00a0just<\/span>\u00a0before<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0start<\/span>\u00a0of this year\u2018<\/span>s Hajj,\u00a0indicating<\/span>\u00a0that pilgrims\u00a0may<\/span>\u00a0experience<\/span>\u00a0very<\/span>\u00a0high temperatures up to 47\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0National Centre of Meteorology\u00a0(NCM) cautioned that the holy sites are\u00a0likely<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0endure<\/span>\u00a0very hot conditions.\u00a0Temperatures<\/span>\u00a0are\u00a0expected<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0be<\/span>\u00a0between 40 \u00b0C and 47 \u00b0C\u00a0during<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0day<\/span>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0likely<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0be<\/span>\u00a0between 27 \u00b0C and 32 \u00b0C\u00a0overnight<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Humidity\u00a0levels<\/span>\u00a0are<\/span>\u00a0forecasted<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0be<\/span>\u00a0between 15% and 60%. Dr. Ayman Ghulam, CEO of NCM,\u00a0explained<\/span>\u00a0that winds from the\u00a0south<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0southwest<\/span>\u00a0at 25 to 35 km\/h may\u00a0cause<\/span>\u00a0dust\u00a0plumes<\/span>,\u00a0which<\/span>\u00a0may<\/span>\u00a0affect<\/span>\u00a0visibility in\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0open<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0on<\/span>\u00a0highways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
