{"id":76594,"date":"2025-06-04T19:39:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T14:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=76594"},"modified":"2025-06-04T19:39:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T14:39:09","slug":"pakistans-trade-deficit-expends-by-26-in-may-2025-reaches-2-6-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/pakistans-trade-deficit-expends-by-26-in-may-2025-reaches-2-6-billion\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan\u2019s trade deficit expends by 26% in May 2025, reaches $2.6 Billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/pakistans-trade-deficit-drops-nearly-19-in-november-2024\/\">Pakistan\u2019s trade deficit<\/a> widened by 26 percent year-on-year (YoY) to $2.6 billion in May 2025, compared to a deficit of $2.07 billion in the same month last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Exports declined by 10 percent in May 2025 to $2.55 billion as against $2.84 billion in the same month last fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>Imports increased by 5 percent to $5.172 billion as against $4.915 billion during the same month last fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>On a monthly basis, the trade deficit narrowed by 23 percent as compared to a deficit of $3.42 billion recorded in April 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Exports in May 2025 were 17 percent higher than exports of $2.174 billion in April 2025. On the other hand, imports decreased by 8 percent compared to $5.596 billion in April 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The trade deficit in the eleven months of the current fiscal year (11MFY25) was $24 billion, which is 11 percent higher than $21.69 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>The country\u2019s exports increased by 5 percent during 11MFY25 and stood at $29.44 billion compared to $28.11 billion during the same period of FY24.<\/p>\n<p>Imports increased by 7 percent and stood at $53.4 billion during 11MFY25 compared to $49.81 billion during the same period of FY24.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Pakistan\u2019s trade deficit widened by 26 percent year-on-year (YoY) to $2.6 billion in May 2025, compared to a deficit of $2.07 billion in the same month last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday.
