ISLAMABAD: The salaried individuals in Pakistan have taken a sigh of relief as the federal government unveiled Budget 2025-26,<\/a> with significant reductions in income tax rates and slabs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new measures aim to ease the tax burden on middle and lower-income earners, in boost to economic growth and an increase in income. Under the proposed reforms, individuals earning up to 6Lac annually will see their tax rate slashed from 5% to just 1%.<\/p>\n

The<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>ones<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>an income of\u00a0<\/span>600,001\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a01,200,000 will\u00a0<\/span>enjoy<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the same\u00a0<\/span>decrease<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>reducing<\/span> their tax burden. More affluent <\/span>income\u00a0<\/span>groups<\/span> will also <\/span>enjoy<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>beneficial<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>revisions<\/span>, with\u00a0<\/span>23% from 25% as\u00a0<\/span>the tax\u00a0<\/a><\/span>liability<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0<\/span>people<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>with<\/span>\u00a02.2 million\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a03.2 million PKR\u00a0<\/span>income.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>These\u00a0<\/span>are\u00a0<\/span>intended<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>foster<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>equity<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>encourage<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>greater<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>conformity\u00a0<\/span>among\u00a0<\/span>high-income<\/span>\u00a0earners.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>“We<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>want<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to make the tax system\u00a0<\/span>fairer<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>more<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>favorable<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>the hardworking\u00a0<\/span>people<\/span>\u00a0of Pakistan. These\u00a0<\/span>cuts<\/span>\u00a0will\u00a0<\/span>increase<\/span>\u00a0consumer spending and\u00a0<\/span>spur<\/span>\u00a0economic activity across\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>board.”<\/span>

\n<\/span>These tax reforms will\u00a0<\/span>enhance<\/span>\u00a0disposable\u00a0<\/span>incomes<\/span>\u00a0for millions of Pakistanis,\u00a0<\/span>which<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>can<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>translate<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>into<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>increased\u00a0<\/span>consumption and investment.
