{"id":77239,"date":"2025-06-13T12:25:03","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T07:25:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=77239"},"modified":"2025-06-13T12:25:03","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T07:25:03","slug":"general-habibollah-sayyari-appointed-as-new-commander-of-iranian-armed-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/general-habibollah-sayyari-appointed-as-new-commander-of-iranian-armed-forces\/","title":{"rendered":"General Habibollah Sayyari appointed as new commander of Iranian armed forces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TEHRAN: <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-condemns-israeli-attacks-against-iran\/\">Iran<\/a> has announced the new head of the armed forces and the head of the Revolutionary Guards, after its military leadership died in <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-condemns-israeli-atrocities-on-al-aqsa-mosque\/\">Israeli attacks<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Iranian media, the Iranian Supreme Leader has temporarily appointed General Habibollah Sayyari as the new commander of the Iranian armed forces.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, on the orders of the Supreme Leader, General Ahmad Vahidi has been appointed as the new commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guards.<\/p>\n<p>Notably,\u00a0 the head of the Iranian armed forces, General Baqeri, and the head of the Revolutionary Guards, Major General Hossein Salami, were martyred in an Israeli attack this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier,Israel carried out strikes on Iran on Friday, targeting its nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories and military commanders at the start of what it warned would be a prolonged operation to prevent Tehran from building an atomic weapon.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian media and witnesses reported explosions including at the country\u2019s main uranium enrichment facility at Natanz, while Israel declared a state of emergency in anticipation of retaliatory missile and drone strikes.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s elite Revolutionary Guards corps said its top commander, Hossein Salami, was killed and state media reported the unit\u2019s headquarters in Tehran had been hit.
