{"id":78126,"date":"2025-06-20T16:10:22","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T11:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=78126"},"modified":"2025-06-20T16:10:22","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T11:10:22","slug":"pm-shehbaz-directs-to-acquire-ships-on-lease-to-enhance-pnsc-fleet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pm-shehbaz-directs-to-acquire-ships-on-lease-to-enhance-pnsc-fleet\/","title":{"rendered":"PM Shehbaz directs to acquire ships on lease to enhance PNSC fleet"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-lg-8\">\n<div class=\"newsdetailcontent\">\n<p>ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to acquire ships on lease to enhance the fleet of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pnsc-sells-two-operational-ships-despite-profitability-concerns\/\">PNSC<\/a>), state-run <em>Radio Pakistan<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p>He made these directives while chairing a meeting in Islamabad to review matters related to the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>The premier said a valuable foreign exchange of four billion dollars is being spent annually from the national treasury on trade through the sea route due to a shortage of ships in PNSC fleet.<\/p>\n<p>He also instructed to present PNSC business plan within two weeks that includes a roadmap to end the burden of four billion dollars annually on the national exchequer.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister was also briefed about the performance of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>It was informed that the PNSC has ten ships of various types in its fleet, which have the capacity to handle 724,643 tons of cargo.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was also attended by Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, and senior officials of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to acquire ships on lease to enhance the fleet of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
