PESHAWAR: The former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday demanded the chief election commissioner (CEC) to step downm, accusing him of partiality against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).<\/p>\n
Addressing the workers\u2019 convention in Peshawar, Imran Khan said, \u201cThe chief election commissioner is a planted agent of Noon League [PML-N].\u201d He added the CEC leaves no stone unturned to damage PTI.<\/p>\n
He said the PTI had challenged to carry out proceedings of the foreign funding cases of all three big parties [PTI, PPP, and PML-N] together.<\/p>\n
Imran Khan added, \u201cI challenge that when the funding of three parties will be examined \u2013 only one party will have legal funding and other two will have illegal [funding] \u2013 that one will be Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The ex-premier said the CEC doesn\u2019t have the moral authority to stay on the seat. \u201cWe don\u2019t have the confidence in the chief election commissioner. When the country\u2019s biggest party doesn\u2019t have confidence in him, he must resign,\u201d Imran Khan said.<\/p>\n
He said the PTI is planning to stage countrywide protests against CEC if he doesn\u2019t step down.<\/p>\n
The ex-premier reiterated that the US wanted to bring thugs into the government. He said the incumbent government will destroy institutions to save themselves.<\/p>\n
He added that [Prime Minister] Shehbaz Sharif has already brought his own men to the top slots.<\/p>\n
Imran Khan said the countries where the institutions are not strong get destroyed. He added that the institutions in such countries don\u2019t catch the powerful people.<\/p>\n
He said the incumbent government is taking revenge on all brave civil servants who took action against them. PTI chairman said the FIA will now never resort to action against the powerful people, fearing vengeance.<\/p>\n
He expressed fear that the incumbent government will destroy NAB and weaken FBR to evade taxes.<\/p>\n
