{"id":78747,"date":"2025-06-26T17:50:20","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T12:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=78747"},"modified":"2025-06-26T17:50:20","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T12:50:20","slug":"high-alert-pdma-warns-of-glacier-bursts-flash-floods-in-kps-5-districts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/high-alert-pdma-warns-of-glacier-bursts-flash-floods-in-kps-5-districts\/","title":{"rendered":"High Alert: PDMA warns of glacier bursts, flash floods in KP&#8217;s 5 districts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/dg-pdma-blames-solar-panels-for-80-damage-in-lahore-dust-storm\/\">Provincial Disaster Management Authority<\/a> (PDMA) has also issued an alert predicting possible glacier bursts in KP&#8217;s five districts.<\/p>\n<p>The alert reports that there is a danger of<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/flood-risk-threatens-swiss-valley-after-village-destroyed-by-glacier\/\"> Glacial Lake Outburst Floods<\/a> (GLOFs) in Upper and Lower Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Kohistan until July 1 due to increased temperatures and continued monsoon rains.<\/p>\n<p>Glaciers are melting at a very fast rate due to extended heat waves, rising water levels, and flash floods wreaking havoc in the area.<\/p>\n<p>PDMA has directed all concerned departments to stay alert to handle any emergency triggered by heavy rain. &#8220;Scattered to widespread rain and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy fa11s, are expected during this period in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa&#8221;, the PDMA stated in its advisory.<\/p>\n<p>Residents and visitors have been warned not to make unnecessary journeys during rain, particularly in mountain or glacial areas.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation, and emergency response teams have been alerted in sensitive areas in the event of a glacier burst in KP.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the ongoing rain spell will continue till 1st July.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also issued an alert predicting possible glacier bursts in KP&#8217;s five districts.
