PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)<\/a>, Ali Amin Gandapur, has announced Rs 1 million as compensation for the families of those deceased in the Swat River flash floods tragedy.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson of the provincial government, Barister Saif,<\/a> said that the families of the deceased will receive Rs 1 million as financial compensation.<\/p>\n

17 people were swept away by the flash flood in the River Swat on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

The government also suspended several officers over the negligence that caused such a tragedy in the recent history of the province.<\/p>\n

The CM has formed a committee to investigate the incident. The committee will be chaired by the head of the Chief Minister\u2019s Inspection Team.<\/p>\n

The committee will determine the causes of the tragedy and identify those responsible.<\/p>\n

The Assistant Commissioner of Khwazakhela was suspended for failing to issue timely warnings, while the ADC Relief was suspended for not making necessary arrangements in advance.<\/p>\n

Additionally, it has been decided to suspend the district in charge of Rescue 1122 immediately.<\/p>\n

Earlier, 18\u00a0tourists, including 10 people from a single family, were swept away in Swat river due to the flooding caused by the Monsoon rains.<\/p>\n

According to the rescue officials,<\/span>\u00a0they have\u00a0<\/span>retrieved<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>four bodies and three\u00a0<\/span>people<\/span>\u00a0have been rescued alive, while 11 people\u00a0<\/span>are<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>still\u00a0<\/span>missing as search operations\u00a0<\/span>are<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>underway\u00a0<\/span>under\u00a0<\/span>difficult<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>circumstances<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
