NDMA has\u00a0raised an alert\u00a0in\u00a0connection\u00a0with Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) for Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, and Kumrat valley.<\/p>\n<p>The alert indicates that the heavy rainfall and elevated temperatures have raised the probability of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/high-alert-pdma-warns-of-glacier-bursts-flash-floods-in-kps-5-districts\/\">Glacial Lake Outburst Floods<\/a>, instant flash floods, road and infrastructure damage, isolated thunder and rainstorms, and public mobility disruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa&#8217;s northern districts.<\/p>\n<p>In Gilgit-Baltistan, swift snow and glacier melting, along with rain, have increased the threat of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods in high-altitude valleys and their surrounding areas, which may cause rising water levels in rivers, flash floods, and impairment of transport and power facilities.<\/p>\n<p>For\u00a0Azad Kashmir,\u00a0rain\u00a0is\u00a0forecasted, which\u00a0can\u00a0cause\u00a0flooding in low-lying areas,\u00a0movement\u00a0impairment, and drainage system\u00a0overloading\u00a0as\u00a0a\u00a0result\u00a0of prolonged\u00a0downpours.<\/p>\n<p>In Punjab,\u00a0extensive\u00a0rain and thunderstorms are\u00a0forecasted\u00a0in high-altitude\u00a0regions,\u00a0such\u00a0as\u00a0Murree and Galiyat,\u00a0and\u00a0central Punjab.<\/p>\n<p>Such\u00a0weather\u00a0can\u00a0lead\u00a0to\u00a0urban flooding,\u00a0electricity\u00a0breakdowns, damage to\u00a0weakly\u00a0constructed buildings, and\u00a0disruptions of\u00a0traffic\u00a0owing\u00a0to\u00a0low\u00a0visibility during\u00a0rain\u00a0and\u00a0dust\u00a0spells.\u00a0Similar\u00a0weather\u00a0patterns\u00a0can\u00a0be\u00a0expected\u00a0in\u00a0Islamabad\u00a0in\u00a0the next 24 to 48 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Isolated thunderstorms, strong winds, and rainfall are predicted in various parts of Baluchistan, which may cause weak structures to be damaged, lower visibility, and result in power outages.<\/p>\n<p>Heavy rain is predicted over a wide belt in Sindh, covering Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Thar Parkar, Badin, Umar Kot, and Jacobabad districts, which may cause urban flooding, traffic disruptions, and losses to fragile structures and electricity lines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has raised a rain and flood alert for various regions of the country.
