{"id":79061,"date":"2025-06-30T18:20:27","date_gmt":"2025-06-30T13:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=79061"},"modified":"2025-06-30T18:20:27","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T13:20:27","slug":"ihc-informed-govt-declines-to-join-aafia-siddiqui-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ihc-informed-govt-declines-to-join-aafia-siddiqui-case\/","title":{"rendered":"IHC informed Govt declines to join Aafia Siddiqui case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/justice-sarfraz-dogar-appointed-as-senior-most-judge-of-islamabad-high-court\/\">Islamabad High Court<\/a> (IHC) was told on Monday that the government not only refused to become a party in the Dr. Aafia Siddiqui case, which is currently under trial in a US court, but also did not offer assistance to the court, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan heard the petition of Aafia Siddiqui\u2019s sister Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner\u2019s lawyer Imran Shafiq, Additional Attorney General (AAG) and other officials were present on the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>The AAG told the court that the government has decided not to become a party in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Ishaq asked the AAG what was the reason for the government\u2019s decision?<\/p>\n<p>Without giving reasons, the AAG replied that it was the government\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>The judge remarked that there are reasons for any decision. \u201cNo decision can be made without any reason,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cIt is not possible for a person to come to court and say that he has made a decision without giving reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The court directed the AAG to inform the reasons at the next hearing and adjourned the hearing of the case till July 4.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) was told on Monday that the government not only refused to become a party in the Dr. Aafia Siddiqui case, which is currently under trial in a US court, but also did not offer assistance to the court, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
