{"id":79897,"date":"2025-07-09T13:33:40","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T08:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=79897"},"modified":"2025-07-09T13:33:40","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T08:33:40","slug":"turkey-blocks-xs-grok-chatbot-for-alleged-insults-to-erdogan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/turkey-blocks-xs-grok-chatbot-for-alleged-insults-to-erdogan\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkey blocks X&#8217;s Grok chatbot for alleged insults to Erdogan"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"story__content  overflow-hidden      text-4 leading-tight text-black  \" dir=\"auto\">\n<p>ANKARA (Reuters): A Turkish court has blocked access to Grok, the artificial intelligence chatbot developed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/america-party-launched-as-elon-musk-challenges-trump-led-political-establishment\/\">Elon Musk<\/a>-founded company xAI, after it generated responses that authorities said included insults to President Tayyip Erdogan.<\/p>\n<p>Issues of political bias, hate speech, and the accuracy of AI chatbots have been a concern since at least the launch of OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT in 2022, with Grok dropping content accused of antisemitic tropes and praise for Adolf Hitler.<\/p>\n<p>The office of Ankara\u2019s chief prosecutor has launched a formal investigation into the incident, it said on Wednesday, in Turkey\u2019s first such ban on access to an AI tool.<\/p>\n<p>Neither X nor its owner, Elon Musk, has commented on the decision.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Musk promised an upgrade to Grok, suggesting there was \u201cfar too much garbage in any foundation model trained on uncorrected data\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Grok, which is integrated into X, reportedly generated offensive content about Erdogan when asked certain questions in Turkish, the media said.<\/p>\n<p>The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) adopted the ban after a court order, citing violations of Turkey\u2019s laws that make insults to the president a criminal offence, punishable with up to four years in jail.<\/p>\n<p>Critics say the law is frequently used to stifle dissent, while the government maintains it is necessary to protect the dignity of the office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANKARA (Reuters): A Turkish court has blocked access to Grok, the artificial intelligence chatbot developed by the Elon Musk-founded company xAI, after it generated responses that authorities said included insults to President Tayyip Erdogan.
