{"id":80146,"date":"2025-07-11T16:31:16","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T11:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=80146"},"modified":"2025-07-11T16:31:16","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T11:31:16","slug":"pakistan-railways-record-historic-revenue-in-fy2024-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-railways-record-historic-revenue-in-fy2024-25\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan railways record historic revenue in FY2024-25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: At the end of the fiscal year 2024-25, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-railways-announces-increase-in-fares-from-june-20\/\">Pakistan Railways<\/a> has witnessed a historic increase in revenue.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan Railways earned a total revenue of Rs 93 billion, of which Rs 47.5 billion was earned from <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/bodies-of-nine-passengers-sent-to-native-areas-for-burial\/\">passenger<\/a> trains and Rs 31.5 billion from freight trains.<\/p>\n<p>Military traffic earned Rs 1.5 billion while other coaching sources earned <a href=\"https:\/\/pakrail.gov.pk\/\">Rs 3 billion<\/a>. Rs 9.5 billion was earned from miscellaneous sources.<\/p>\n<p>This is the highest level of revenue in the 78-year history of the railways, last year Pakistan Railways earned Rs 88 billion.<\/p>\n<h2>Passenger Sector Revenue<\/h2>\n<p>Karachi Division was at the forefront in revenue generation from the passenger sector, with Karachi Division earning Rs 15.5 billion in the fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Lahore was in second place with a revenue of over Rs 11.5 billion. Headquarters and Multan Division earned Rs 5.5 billion and Rs 5 billion respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Sukkur&#8217;s revenue was 4.8 billion while Rawalpindi&#8217;s was 4.7 billion. Peshawar generated 1.2 billion revenue while Quetta earned 520 million.<\/p>\n<h2>Freight sector revenue<\/h2>\n<p>In the freight sector, Karachi earned 28 billion and Multan 1 billion. Lahore earned 830 million, Peshawar 770 million, Rawalpindi 310 million, Sukkur 280 million and Quetta 100 million.<\/p>\n<p>Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that the railway administration deserves praise for its excellent performance with limited resources. Next year, up to 70 percent of income generation will be possible from freight trains.
