{"id":80365,"date":"2025-07-14T16:00:26","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T11:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=80365"},"modified":"2025-07-14T16:02:18","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T11:02:18","slug":"president-promulgates-ordinance-to-restructure-frontier-constabulary-into-federal-constabulary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/president-promulgates-ordinance-to-restructure-frontier-constabulary-into-federal-constabulary\/","title":{"rendered":"President promulgates ordinance to restructure Frontier Constabulary into &#8220;Federal Constabulary&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has promulgated the Frontier Constabulary (Re-organisation) Ordinance, 2025, transforming the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/three-balochistan-constabulary-personnel-martyred-in-deadly-mastung-blast\/\">Frontier Constabulary (FC)<\/a> into &#8220;Federal Constabulary&#8221;, a countrywide federal force.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ordinance, the Federal Constabulary will operate in all four provinces as well as the Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the\u00a0ordinance stated that the force will be headed by the Inspector General, who will be appointed by the federal government, while each division will have a Wing Commander with the rank equivalent to Deputy Inspector General (DIG).<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff8\"><span class=\"a\">&#8220;The <\/span><span class=\"a\">Federal <\/span><span class=\"a\">Constabulary <\/span><span class=\"a\">shall <\/span><span class=\"a\">be <\/span><span class=\"a\">deployed <\/span><span class=\"a\">by <\/span><span class=\"a\">the <\/span><span class=\"a\">Federal <\/span><span class=\"a\">Government <\/span><span class=\"a\">for <\/span><span class=\"a\">internal security <\/span><span class=\"a\">duties <\/span><span class=\"a\">which <\/span><span class=\"a\">include, but <\/span><span class=\"a\">are <\/span><span class=\"a\">not <\/span><span class=\"a\">limited <\/span><span class=\"a\">to, riot control, internal security, counter-terrorism, and protection or escort duties,&#8221; the ordinance reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ff8\">In a press conference with FC Commandant Riaz Nazir Gara after the promulgation, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry clarified that the newly-designated Federal Constabulary should not be confused with being a federal police force.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff8\">The minister said that the force would continue to work under the Centre and as part of the reorganisation, recruitment for the constabulary will be carried out nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Commandant Riaz Nazir Gara said that the force would have 41 wings, of which 36 wings will belong to the Security Division, comprising those already serving in the FC.<\/p>\n<p>The other six wings, he added, would fall under the &#8220;Federal Reserve Division,&#8221; of which five will belong to Riot Support Wing and one Special Protection Wing, with the latter responsible for ensuring security and protection of key installations and offices.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The primary reason for reorganisation is to improve the tiers of command structure, fulfil operational requirements to boost morale and create division within the FC,&#8221; the officer said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has promulgated the Frontier Constabulary (Re-organisation) Ordinance, 2025, transforming the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into &#8220;Federal Constabulary&#8221;, a countrywide federal force.
