He was 83.<\/p>\n<p>He was the father of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar, and had been ill for a long time, during which he had largely been out of the public eye.<\/p>\n<p>Mian Azhar served as the governor of Punjab from 1990 to 1993 and later played a key role in the founding and leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).<\/p>\n<p>During his political career, he held several important portfolios and remained an influential figure in Pakistan\u2019s political landscape.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, he had withdrawn from active politics, while his son, Hammad Azhar, emerged as a key PTI leader, serving as a federal minister in various capacities.<\/p>\n<p>Condolences were expressed by political leaders and well-wishers on party lines, remembering Mian Azhar as a respected figure who played a prominent role in the country&#8217;s politics and public service.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements will be announced soon by the family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Veteran politician and former Punjab governor Mian Azhar died on Tuesday after a prolonged illness, family sources confirmed.
