ISLAMABAD: The seizure of donkey meat<\/a> in the federal capital has spread a sense of fear among the public while visiting restaurants with family.<\/p>\n

The vet experts say Halal meat has a brilliant cherry-red color, but meat from animals slaughtered inhumanely or Haram appears dark red or brown.<\/p>\n

The donkey meat is much darker in colour and has a bluish shade to it, making it more difficult to identify. The experts asked the public to be aware, especially when eating at new hotels or roadside restaurants.<\/p>\n

If suspicious, he recommends sending meat for ELISA or PCR testing, and scientific methods can detect animal species in meat samples.<\/p>\n

Earlier, In a major operation, the\u00a0Islamabad Food Authority\u00a0(IFA) recovered over 25 maunds of donkey meat in Tarnol, with a foreign national present at the spot handed over to the police.<\/p>\n

The operation was led by Deputy Director Food Authority Dr. Tahira Siddique, who confirmed that the meat was being supplied to various areas, including potentially abroad.<\/p>\n

The IFA team destroyed the recovered meat and registered a case against the involved persons. Dr. Tahira Siddique emphasized that the Food Authority is working tirelessly to ensure safe food for the citizens of Islamabad.<\/p>\n

This operation comes after a similar incident in Lahore, where\u00a0donkey meat\u00a0was also recovered. The IFA is investigating the source and distribution channels of the illegal meat trade.<\/p>\n
