{"id":83008,"date":"2025-08-13T12:03:56","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T07:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=83008"},"modified":"2025-08-13T12:03:56","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T07:03:56","slug":"na-plans-punishment-for-men-unfairly-expelling-wives-from-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/na-plans-punishment-for-men-unfairly-expelling-wives-from-home\/","title":{"rendered":"NA plans punishment for men unfairly expelling wives from home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ecp-disqualifies-pti-lawmakers-including-omar-ayub-shibli-faraz\/\">Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2025<\/a> was presented in the National Assembly, amid protecting women from unjust eviction from their homes by their husbands or their family members.<\/p>\n<p>Sharmila Faruqi, a Member of the National Assembly from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) introduced the bill.<\/p>\n<p>The bill proposes amending numerous provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) to make the unfair removal of women from their homes a criminal offense.<\/p>\n<p>According to the proposed legislation, any husband or family member found guilty of unfairly evicting a woman from her residence could face imprisonment ranging from three to six months. Additionally, a fine of up to Rs200,000 may be imposed on the offender.<\/p>\n<p>The bill further states that such cases will fall under the jurisdiction of a First-Class Magistrate, ensuring expedited and appropriate legal proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly referred the bill to the relevant committee for further deliberation before it proceeds to the next legislative stage.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed amendment has been welcomed by rights advocates as a step toward greater legal protection for women within domestic spaces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2025 was presented in the National Assembly, amid protecting women from unjust eviction from their homes by their husbands or their family members.
