{"id":83259,"date":"2025-08-16T09:58:21","date_gmt":"2025-08-16T04:58:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=83259"},"modified":"2025-08-16T12:06:04","modified_gmt":"2025-08-16T07:06:04","slug":"cloudburst-flash-floods-and-landslides-leave-307-dead-in-northern-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/cloudburst-flash-floods-and-landslides-leave-307-dead-in-northern-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"Cloudburst, flash floods and landslides leave 307 dead in Northern Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BUNER: Torrential rains, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/cloudburst-lightning-strike-kill-21-several-missing-in-bajaur\/\">cloudbursts<\/a>, landslides, and flash floods have wreaked havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, killing 307 people in various accidents.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased include 279 men, 15 women, and 13 children, according to the Provisional Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).<\/p>\n<p>The latest floods damaged 74 homes, partially destroyed 63 buildings, and destroyed 11 houses, according to the PDMA, which warns that the current rainy spell will last until August 21.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that rain-related events have been recorded in Buner, where 184 people have died, Bajaur, Torghar, Mansehra, Shangla, and other regions, the PDMA said that Rs500 million has been issued for flood-affected districts.<\/p>\n<p>Buner has been granted Rs15 million, while Bajaur, Battagram, and Mansehra have each received Rs10 million.<\/p>\n<p>The KP government has classified all of these districts, including Swat, as disaster-hit regions.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the details of the damage caused by cloudbursts, rain, and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the\u00a0 Provincial Disaster Management Authority<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pdma.gov.pk\/\"> (PDMA)<\/a> stated that the death toll in the province has exceeded 214.<\/p>\n<p>According to the PDMA, the highest loss was in Buner district, where more than 12 villages of Buner were severely affected by the cloudburst, resulting in the deaths of 157 individuals.<\/p>\n<p>More than 60 people were injured due to rain, cloudbursts, and flash floods. Buner, Bajaur, Mansehra, and Battagram have been declared disaster-hit districts, as per the PDMA.<\/p>\n<p>The number of rescue teams has been further increased in the affected districts.
