{"id":83473,"date":"2025-08-18T22:50:33","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T17:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=83473"},"modified":"2025-08-18T22:50:33","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T17:50:33","slug":"lahore-tram-service-to-launch-in-feb-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/lahore\/lahore-tram-service-to-launch-in-feb-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Lahore Tram Service to launch in Feb 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: The provincial government of Punjab has announced to start <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/route-for-lahores-new-electric-bus-service-electro-announced\/\">tram service in Lahore<\/a> from February next year.<\/p>\n<p>According to Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, the tram tests have been successful and the service will run from Thokar to Harbanspura from February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Bilal Akbar said that the tram will have a capacity of 270 seats and the project will cost $30 million. Punjab officials from NESPAK and PMA visited China for the project.<\/p>\n<p>The provincial minister added that metro trains will also be run in Faisalabad and Gujranwala. It is expected that the Faisalabad Metro will serve 300,000 passengers daily, while the Gujranwala Metro will cater to 140,000 passengers daily.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the Faisalabad Metro project is estimated to cost $110 million, and the Gujranwala Metro project will cost $50 million.<\/p>\n<p>Bilal Akbar said that motorcycles and cars are increasing environmental pollution in Lahore, and the tram and metro projects aim to help control it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: The provincial government of Punjab has announced to start tram service in Lahore from February next year.
