{"id":83645,"date":"2025-08-20T12:35:44","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T07:35:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=83645"},"modified":"2025-08-20T12:35:44","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T07:35:44","slug":"wasim-akram-faces-backlash-over-online-gambling-promotion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/sports\/wasim-akram-faces-backlash-over-online-gambling-promotion\/","title":{"rendered":"Wasim Akram faces backlash over online gambling promotion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Former Pakistan cricket legend<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/life-style\/rakhi-sawant-expresses-wish-to-dance-in-an-item-song-with-wasim-akram\/\"> Wasim Akram<\/a> found himself at the centre of controversy after a citizen filed a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), accusing him of endorsing an illegal online gambling platform.<\/p>\n<p>The petition, filed by a citizen named Muhammad Fayyaz, alleged that Akram had entered into an agreement with an Indian betting platform \u201cBaji\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The complainant claimed that promotional material circulating on social media \u2014 including a poster and a short video clip \u2014 showed the former fast bowler encouraging users to sign up for the betting service.<\/p>\n<p>According to the petition, such endorsement is in direct violation of Pakistani laws, which strictly prohibit gambling in all its forms.
