{"id":85409,"date":"2025-09-09T12:50:02","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T07:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=85409"},"modified":"2025-09-09T13:02:34","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T08:02:34","slug":"flood-victims-to-get-relief-in-power-bills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/flood-victims-to-get-relief-in-power-bills\/","title":{"rendered":"Flood victims to get relief in power bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to provide relief in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/heres-how-to-get-huge-discounts-on-electricity-bills\/\">electricity bill<\/a> to flood-hit victims in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The government is considering proposals to exempt a number of charges and taxes on electricity bills for citizens who have been hit by the recent catastrophic floods.<\/p>\n<p>The relief measures suggested are the exemption of General Sales Tax (GST), Fuel Cost (FC) surcharge, and fixed charges from electricity bills.<\/p>\n<p>There are also suggestions for abolishing GST and excise duty on fuel price adjustments.<\/p>\n<p>Further, there are talks to exempt income tax, additional and further taxes, and the retailer sales tax that is levied on electricity bills.<\/p>\n<p>This is in the wake of extensive flooding that has affected Punjab, hugely devastating agricultural lands and displacing hundreds of thousands of people.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/nepra-okays-two-new-solar-projects-for-lower-power-costs\/\"> (NEPRA)<\/a> announced a reduction in electricity prices through monthly and quarterly adjustments.<\/p>\n<p>Nepra has approved a reduction in electricity prices by Rs 1.89 per unit in the quarterly adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to reduce electricity prices in the quarterly adjustment has been sent to the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>According to the decision, this reduction was approved in the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2025. The reduction in electricity prices will apply to all DISCOs consumers, including K-Electric.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nepra, the reduction in electricity prices will apply for the 3 months of August to October 2025, and electricity consumers will get a relief of Rs 55 billion 874 million from this reduction.<\/p>\n<p>The reduction in electricity prices will not apply to Lifeline and prepaid consumers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to provide relief in the electricity bill to flood-hit victims in the country.
