{"id":85525,"date":"2025-09-10T12:12:32","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T07:12:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=85525"},"modified":"2025-09-10T12:12:32","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T07:12:32","slug":"punjab-on-high-alert-as-india-releases-more-water-into-river-sutlej","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/punjab-on-high-alert-as-india-releases-more-water-into-river-sutlej\/","title":{"rendered":"Punjab on high alert as India releases more water into River Sutlej"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Punjab is once again on <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/karachi\/karachi-on-high-alert-as-100-mm-rain-forecast\/\">high alert<\/a> as the Indian authority releases more water into the river Sutlej, causing a sudden surge in water levels.<\/p>\n<p>The Indian High Commission stated on Wednesday that India has released water into the Sutlej river due to which the Ministry of Water Resources to given a flood warning.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/10th-monsoon-spell-to-hit-punjab-pdma-on-alert\/\">Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority<\/a> (PDMA) confirmed that the increased India discharge has raised the river&#8217;s flow, predicting high levels of flood at Harike downstream and Ferozepur downstream. The authorities have been instructed to exercise precautionary measures for the security of humans and property.<\/p>\n<p>The PDMA added that India released water into the Sutlej a day ago.<\/p>\n<p>At Ganda Singh Wala, water discharge has now gone up to 230,000 cusecs, and at Sulemanki, a high flood is taking place with 137,000 cusecs.<\/p>\n<p>Other rivers, too, are having heavy inflows. At Marala in the Chenab River, discharge is 62,000 cusecs; at Khanki Headworks and Qadirabad Headworks, 98,000 cusecs each; and at Trimmu Headworks, 250,000 cusecs.<\/p>\n<p>The PDMA also reported a record-breaking flood at Panjnad, where the water level of 475,000 cusecs has been recorded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Punjab is once again on high alert as the Indian authority releases more water into the river Sutlej, causing a sudden surge in water levels.
