{"id":85746,"date":"2025-09-12T22:50:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T17:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=85746"},"modified":"2025-09-12T22:50:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T17:50:08","slug":"port-city-opens-community-schools-for-slum-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/port-city-opens-community-schools-for-slum-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Port city opens community schools for slum children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: Karachi is set to witness a big education initiative as the Directorate General of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/karachi-witnesses-traffic-chaos-after-heavy-rains\/\">Basic Education Community Schools (<\/a>BECS), Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, will be opening 100 new community (non-formal) schools on Saturday, September 13.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims to enroll out-of-school children in classes and offer free education in the city&#8217;s most backward slums.<\/p>\n<p>This action is taken in view of the staggering figure of children in Karachi slum settlements who continue to be out of school due to<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/poverty-grips-44-7-of-pakistans-population-world-bank\/\"> poverty<\/a> and denial of access.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Education Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi, who will open the ceremony at the Liaquat Memorial Library Auditorium, stated the programme is all about &#8220;opening doors to hope&#8221; for poor families.<\/p>\n<p>BECS officials claim that the teaching material and books are already being out to provide a smooth flow.
