{"id":86571,"date":"2025-09-22T21:27:50","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T16:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=86571"},"modified":"2025-09-22T21:27:50","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T16:27:50","slug":"new-polio-case-reported-in-sindh-pakistans-tally-rises-to-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/health\/new-polio-case-reported-in-sindh-pakistans-tally-rises-to-27\/","title":{"rendered":"New polio case reported in Sindh, Pakistan\u2019s tally rises to 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HYDERABAD: Authorities confirmed a new case of polio in Sindh\u2019s Hyderabad district on Monday, taking the total number of polio cases nationwide this year to 27.<\/p>\n<p>The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-wins-first-ever-gold-medal-at-international-science-olympiad\/\">National Institute of Health<\/a> in Islamabad reported that the latest case involved an eight-month-old girl.<\/p>\n<p>Sindh has now reported seven cases in 2025, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the worst-hit province with 18 cases. Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan have reported one case each so far.<\/p>\n<p>The detection comes weeks ahead of a nationwide anti-polio campaign from October 13-19, which aims to vaccinate about 45.4 million children under the age of five with the help of more than 400,000 workers.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, a sub-national campaign covered 88 districts, including Hyderabad, reaching about 21 million children.
