{"id":87028,"date":"2025-09-27T16:47:44","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T11:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=87028"},"modified":"2025-09-27T16:47:44","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T11:47:44","slug":"atc-dismisses-imran-khans-plea-to-halt-may-9-ghq-attack-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/atc-dismisses-imran-khans-plea-to-halt-may-9-ghq-attack-case\/","title":{"rendered":"ATC dismisses Imran Khan&#8217;s plea to halt May 9 GHQ attack case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has dismissed the application filed by PTI founder Imran Khan to stay the trial in the<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/imran-khan-boycotts-ghq-attack-case-hearing-via-video-link\/\"> May 9 GHQ attack case<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court heard the application filed by Imran Khan to stay the trial in the May 9 GHQ attack case.<\/p>\n<p>Imran Khan\u2019s legal team had filed an application seeking to stay the trial of the May 9 GHQ attack case.<\/p>\n<p>The application had taken the position that the trial should be stayed until the decision of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench on the video link trial is taken.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, the court issued notices to the prosecution on the application to re-summon 8 witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, the court recorded the statements of 3 prosecution witnesses, including DSP Akbar Abbas, Inspector Ismat Kamal, and Inspector Tehzeeb-ul-Hassan.<\/p>\n<p>The Anti-Terrorism Court adjourned the hearing of the case until September 30.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder\u00a0Imran Khan\u00a0boycotted the proceedings through video link in the GHQ attack case.<\/p>\n<p>The GHQ attack case was heard in the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court, in which Imran Khan was present in the court through video link.<\/p>\n<p>Before the hearing, Imran Khan was sent a message 3 times to appear via video link. When contacted for the first time at 10:30 am, the court was told that he would appear via video link at 11 am.<\/p>\n<p>At 11:25 am, he appeared via video link. During the hearing, defense lawyer Faisal Malik requested to speak to Imran Khan alone.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, the lawyers told Imran Khan that the video link presentation is being challenged in the High Court.<\/p>\n<p>What are your instructions on this notification, asked his counsel, to which Imran Khan asked the lawyers to boycott the court proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>After Imran Khan\u2019s instructions, the lawyers left the court, but the court continued the hearing and started recording the statements of the witnesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has dismissed the application filed by PTI founder Imran Khan to stay the trial in the May 9 GHQ attack case.
