{"id":87719,"date":"2025-10-07T10:18:50","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T05:18:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=87719"},"modified":"2025-10-07T10:18:50","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T05:18:50","slug":"lawyer-hurls-shoe-at-cji-br-gavai-in-supreme-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/lawyer-hurls-shoe-at-cji-br-gavai-in-supreme-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Lawyer hurls shoe at CJI BR Gavai in Supreme Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW DELHI: India&#8217;s Supreme Court has been rocked by a row after a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/imran-khan-bushra-bibis-lawyer-threaten-to-boycott-proceedings\/\">lawyer<\/a> allegedly hurled a shoe at Chief Justice BR Gavai.<\/p>\n<p>The incident follows Justice Gavai&#8217;s recent remarks about the Hindu god Vishnu.<\/p>\n<p>According to media reports, Justice Gavai had said during a hearing in a case in which a petitioner had sought to replace a damaged idol of Vishnu, &#8220;Go and tell the deity to do something,&#8221; after which the court dismissed the petition.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, a lawyer suddenly walked up to the elevated platform in front of the judges in the court and tried to hurl a shoe at the Chief Justice.<\/p>\n<p>While being arrested, the lawyer shouted slogans that &#8220;we will not tolerate disrespect for Sanatan Dharma.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; Chief Justice BR Gavai directed that the court proceedings continue despite the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Justice Gavai clarified that his remarks had been misrepresented and stated that he respects all religions.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court Lawyers&#8217; Association strongly condemned the incident and demanded action against the lawyer involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW DELHI: India&#8217;s Supreme Court has been rocked by a row after a lawyer allegedly hurled a shoe at Chief Justice BR Gavai.
