Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz<\/a>, the program has scaled up to 36 districts, covering 127 million individuals and collecting 57,000 tons of urban waste on a daily basis. In a matter of months, Punjab has commissioned a province-level solid waste program based on a digital twin platform, GPS-fleet tracking, and performance-based PPP contracts.<\/p>\nRooted in actual-time data, the initiative has recorded a 75% decrease in methane gas emissions from the Lakhodair landfill, producing in excess of 275,000 carbon credits on an annual basis and preventing almost 2 million tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions every year.<\/p>\n
In addition to these environmental benefits, Suthra Punjab has spurred more than 100,000 new environmentally friendly jobs, more than 30% of which are reserved for women and youth, and triggered PKR 150 billion (~$528 million) in public investment in local industry and SME ecosystem.<\/p>\n
