{"id":89163,"date":"2025-10-24T10:27:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T05:27:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=89163"},"modified":"2025-10-24T10:57:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T05:57:30","slug":"inquiry-team-formed-to-probe-sp-adeel-akbars-suicide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/inquiry-team-formed-to-probe-sp-adeel-akbars-suicide\/","title":{"rendered":"Inquiry team formed to probe SP Adeel Akbar&#8217;s &#8216;suicide&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: A high-level <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/featured\/negotiation-team-in-muzaffarabad-talks-begin-with-jaac\/\">investigation team<\/a> has been formed to probe the factors behind the death of the SP Islamabad Police Adeel Akhbar, according to media reports.<\/p>\n<p>State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry said a high-level team had been formed under the supervision of the IGP Islamabad.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;SP Adeel shot himself dead inside his vehicle late in the afternoon,&#8221; Talal added.<\/p>\n<div class=\"left\">\n<div class=\"story-area\">\n<div class=\"content-area\" data-io-article-url=\"https:\/\/www.geo.tv\/latest\/630224-committee-formed-to-probe-sp-akbars-suicide\">\n<p>A three-member inquiry committee has been constituted after consultation with the interior minister and himself, Talal said. The committee comprises DIG Headquarters, DIG Islamabad, and DIG Security.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, A top Islamabad\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/centaurus-rape-case-key-suspect-granted-three-day-police-remand\/\">police<\/a>\u00a0officer, SP Industrial Area Adeel Akbar, reportedly shot himself on duty near the Serena checkpoint on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>As per sources, SP Adeel Akbar received serious injuries and was taken to PIMS Hospital by police personnel, where he was declared dead while undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Police authorities have opened an inquiry to figure out the details of the incident. Evidence is being gathered from the spot.<\/p>\n<p>A police spokesperson stated the facts would be released once the investigation is conducted. The reason behind the incident is still not clear, officials noted.<\/p>\n<p>The SP was reportedly on security for the Pakistan and South African cricket team close to the Serena Hotel when he allegedly took a rifle from a junior police officer and shot himself.<\/p>\n<p>SP Adeel Akbar allegedly grabbed a gun from his gunman and shot himself, sources said.
